Apple Museum

For the Apple Museum Utrecht, a unique museum dedicated to the history and innovations of Apple Inc., Atomis was able to supply the lighting that supports and reinforces the entire visitor experience. The museum is located in the iconic The Wall complex in Leidsche Rijn and officially opened its doors in early April 2026, exactly around Apple's fiftieth anniversary.

Apple Museum

This special project is all about experience, storytelling and visual impact. Lighting plays an essential role here: not only to make objects visible, but above all to bring stories to life.

The Apple Museum takes visitors on a journey through time and themes. From Steve Jobs's iconic garage to the world-famous "Think Different" strategy: every part of the collection tells its own story.

The challenge for the lighting was to create a clear visual "signal path" in which each zone retains its own atmosphere while remaining part of one cohesive experience. Carefully chosen light levels, contrasts and colour temperatures create a natural flow through the museum.

This not only reinforces the collection but also the way visitors move through the space and experience the stories.

The exhibition design, realised by Studio Daphne Jansen, calls for lighting that adapts subtly to the various scenographies. From intimate presentations of historic objects to larger, visually powerful installations: each element requires a specific lighting approach.

Atomis supplied a tailor-made lighting concept centred on flexibility and precision. Using high-quality LED solutions and smart luminaire positioning, every object is optimally lit without compromising on visual comfort or energy efficiency.
