Centraal Museum Utrecht
Sometimes you walk into a museum and everything is just right. The space, the objects, the atmosphere. You may not consciously notice it, but lighting plays a leading role in that. In Collectie Centraal at the Centraal Museum Utrecht, that comes together beautifully.

Together with lighting designer Light-Joost de Beij and the museum's team, Atomis was able to contribute to lighting the permanent collections. Art, design, fashion and city history follow one another effortlessly here, each with its own story and each with its own lighting needs.
For this project, our Zumo 60 luminaires were chosen. Not a standard spot, but a flexible instrument. Thanks to the built-in zoom lens, the light beam can easily be adjusted. Sometimes tight and focused to really make an object speak, sometimes wider to create context and cohesion. Exactly what you need in a museum where attention must be guided subtly, without the light imposing itself.
The result is a calm, clear and balanced light experience in which the collection is central and visitors are naturally guided through the different spaces. Light that supports, reinforces and helps tell the story.
Thanks to everyone involved for the pleasant collaboration and the trust. A project we look back on with great pleasure.
