Gemeentehuis Hardenberg
Atomis was proud to supply the new, sustainable and high-quality lighting for the Hardenberg town hall. This project is a fine example of how modern lighting technology, energy efficiency and aesthetics come together in a future-proof working environment. From the first design study through to final delivery, Atomis worked closely with the parties involved to ensure that the lighting solutions fully matched both the client's wishes and the functional requirements of a contemporary town hall.

The Hardenberg town hall recently underwent an extensive renewal of its interior lighting, with the emphasis on a combination of comfort, sustainability and optimal light quality. Atomis selected luminaires that stand out for their high efficiency, long service life and very low environmental impact. Thanks to this choice, total energy consumption was significantly reduced without compromising on visual comfort or light experience.
During the engineering phase, various recessed and pendant linear luminaire variants were assessed, matched to the architecture and layout of the building. This process included several mock-ups and trial luminaires, allowing both the light effect and the technical feasibility to be tested. This approach, applied specifically for the Hardenberg town hall, gave the client an early insight into the appearance and functionality of the new lighting.
Essential to this project was the balance between direct and indirect light. By using advanced optics and precisely set light distributions, an evenly lit working environment was created that fully complies with the applicable standards, including EN 12464-1 for office spaces. The chosen luminaires also feature modern DALI control, allowing light levels to be managed efficiently and flexibly. This technology integrates perfectly with the existing installations in the Hardenberg town hall, enabling seamless integration.
Alongside functionality, sustainability played a central role. For the Hardenberg town hall, luminaires were chosen with a long service life (L90B50 ≥ 60,000 hours) and a very consistent light colour, thanks to high-quality LED modules with up to 3-step MacAdam binning. The housings are also made from low-impact materials, fully in line with the municipality's sustainability ambitions. As a result, the lighting modernisation delivers not only direct energy savings but also lower maintenance costs and a longer technical service life for the entire lighting installation.
Tailored work was also delivered logistically. Because the project was carried out floor by floor and minimal packaging waste was desired, Atomis aligned the delivery with roll containers, batch-wise dispatch and custom connection cords produced specifically for the Hardenberg town hall. This precise coordination prevented unnecessary handling on site and ensured efficient execution in collaboration with the installer.
The result is a fully modernised lighting installation befitting the ambitions of a forward-looking government building. The new lighting in the Hardenberg town hall increases visual comfort for staff and visitors, improves workplace lighting, supports a pleasant daylight experience and demonstrably contributes to making the building more sustainable. The uniform light quality also reinforces the architectural appearance of the interior and matches the representative function of the building.
