Luminaires used: Zumo 60 Vario White, Lightscape Directable, adapted Berlage luminaires

Kunstmuseum Den Haag is not described as a modern palace for the arts without reason. Berlage's iconic building forms a unique context in which architecture, art and light are inextricably linked.
On behalf of Kunstmuseum Den Haag, we were able to realise several bespoke projects, specifically aimed at museum applications. A special part of this project was modifying and modernising existing Berlage and Polak luminaires. These luminaires are not only functional but also part of the building's collection and heritage.
Atomis carefully fitted these historic luminaires with modern LED and smart lighting technology. In this way, appearance and character are preserved while they meet contemporary requirements in terms of light quality, sustainability and flexibility. A refined interplay of restoration and innovation.
In addition to the bespoke work, our Zumo 60 Vario White spots were used in various exhibitions. These luminaires offer high light quality and feature a special zoom lens with which the beam width can be precisely tuned. Various dimming options are also possible, such as dimming at the spot itself, via DALI or with Casambi, so that the light perfectly matches changing exhibitions and objects.
The Lightscape Directable was also used, with which focused and controlled light can be applied in complex exhibition spaces.
The result is a future-proof lighting solution that does justice to both the monumental building and the art collection. Light that supports, reinforces and adapts, without drawing attention to itself.
