Texture
At TEXTURE – the museum of flax and textiles in Kortrijk, the exhibition Draad. Het absurde is overal (Thread. The absurd is everywhere) can be seen. In this special group exhibition, 33 artists play with the many contrasts of our time. They celebrate the versatility of textiles and push the boundaries of material and technique. Knitted film stills, textile memories in clay and patterns reminiscent of digital pixels explore the possibilities of textiles as an artistic medium while questioning the world we live in. The artists find beauty in waste and residual material, discover protection and strength in fragile materials, and turn the everyday inside out into something unexpected and delightfully absurd.

For the Texture Museum we were proud to provide the lighting for this refined exhibition. In museum environments, light plays a crucial role: it brings materials to life, emphasises structures and textures and creates the right atmosphere to fully immerse visitors in the story behind each object. With textile art in particular, a careful balance is necessary, in which visibility, experience and conservation go hand in hand.
For Draad. Het absurde is overal we realised a balanced lighting plan of 50 lux. This museum-appropriate light level makes every detail visible without straining the fragile collection. Through precise tuning of light beams and luminaire positions, a calm, subtle light experience emerges that supports the artworks without dominating them.
The result is high-quality, understated lighting that naturally enhances the materials, colours and structures. The light follows the rhythm of the exhibition and contributes to an intense yet comfortable visitor experience. In this way, the lighting forms an invisible but essential link in the overall experience of the exhibition, where art, material and story come together.
